The Financial Empowerment Center, a United Way program, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion of its free financial services in Weakley County at the Northwest Tennessee Development District in Martin. Residents within the county (and anyone in West Tennessee) who are 18 years or older now have the opportunity to receive professional, one-on-one professional financial counseling for free.
Whether an individual is financially struggling or stable, the Financial Empowerment Center can help create a plan for their financial goals and walk each step of the plan with them until they reach their goals. Some of the financial services offered include: maximizing cash flow, establish and building credit, creating a budget, increasing one's savings, and more.
Brandi Long will serve as the county's finance counselor at the Northwest Tennessee Development District on 124 Weldon Drive on Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Phone and virtual options are available with occasional weekend availability.
"As a proud resident of Weakley County, I am deeply aware of the positive impact free financial counseling can have within our community," said Brandi Long, Financial Counselor for the Weakley County office. "Growing up in a rural area with little financial education in my early years, I experienced firsthand the challenges of managing income while tackling debt and striving for financial stability. I'm eager to share my skills and knowledge to help improve the overall financial well-being of individuals and families throughout our community."
With establishment support from the Weakley County government, the City of Martin, and the Northwest Tennessee Development District, this new location is ready to help empower people with safe, affordable financial services.
